Feeling down and stuck makes everyday living a challenge. Memories, feelings, internal needs, hopes and dreams can often hold us back rather than help us move forward. As an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapist, I help my clients get unstuck. EMDR is a measurable therapy that helps the brain reprocess the things that hold our minds back. Through this therapy, your own brain will put things in perspective through guided exercises that put you back in control – of your feelings, thoughts, and memories as you journey to recovery.
Oftentimes, our brains process memories and traumas incorrectly. EMDR is highly researched and evidence based. The results are frequently explicitly tangible from the very beginning. Whether through just a handful of sessions or many over the course of months, clients see specific results like reduction of painful or fearful feelings, more energy, and an overall easing of distress. Together, we will re-process past events so that they not only no longer bog you down but help propel you forward into a recovery that embraces all of your history as a tool to move forward.
We are born to be in relationships with one another. Sometimes a relationship that began with hopefulness becomes a relationship that causes confusion or fear. We begin to doubt the truth—that we are important, lovable, capable individuals. When that happens, we struggle with setting boundaries that allow us to take care of ourselves and we can get lost in the toxicity. We begin to feel stressed, anxious, depressed, overwhelmed. Working through the trauma of narcissistic abuse or toxic relationships and finding your way to your personal freedom is my passion.
I work with children, adolescents and adults. My approach is client/family-specific, to meet you where you are and to move forward. I am trained in trauma recovery, CBT, DBT, and twelve step recovery. I practice an integrative therapy that is dynamic to meet your needs and preferences. Regaining balance, achieving emotional healing, rebuilding self-esteem, exploring relationship patterns, and focusing on your best future are the goals of my therapy practice.
