Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is a short-term, problem-focused form of behavioral treatment that helps people see the difference between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and free them from unhelpful patterns of behavior. CBT is grounded in the belief that it is a person’s perception of events – rather than the events themselves – that determines how he or she will feel and act in response. Most people with clearly defined behavioral and emotional concerns tend to reap the benefits of CBT. With CBT, you’ll be able to adjust the thoughts that directly influence your emotions and behavior.

Counseling for Adults

Is Anxiety and Depression stealing the joy from your life? It can feel like everyone else has it together but you. Why can’t I be more like them? Every day you wake up exhausted and wonder how you can make it through another day. Chances are you put on your “happy face” so that friends and family don’t know how miserable you feel. Having a hard time keeping up? Your day has you pulled in so many directions from taking the kids to school and their activities to going to work and trying to get things done when you are having a hard time even concentrating.

Counseling for Anxiety

Is anxiety taking over your life? Does it feel like you can’t control it no matter how hard you try? Have you already tried therapy but found it ineffective? If this sounds like you, I’m confident I can help. My practice offers the most effective forms of treatment, to get the relief from anxiety that you deserve. When it comes to treating anxiety disorders, research shows that therapy is usually the most effective option. That’s because anxiety therapy – as opposed to anxiety medication – treats more than just symptoms to the problem.

Grief & Bereavement Counseling

Bereavement and grief aren’t light-hearted topics. Bereavement refers to the process of recovering from the death of a loved one, and grief is a reaction for any form of loss. Both encompass a wide range of emotions such as fear, anger and deep, deep sadness. The process of adapting to a loss can dramatically change from person to person, depending on his or her background, beliefs, relationship to the person who’s passed, and other factors. Common symptoms of grief can be physical, emotional or social. Every grieving experience is different. Whatever your personal symptoms are, grief and bereavement counseling have been proven to help.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy differs from Group or Alternative therapy methods in the way that you are the sole focus of a single therapist who helps you develop and achieve your goals for therapy.

If you’ve been feeling hopeless or lost lately, or struggling with a problem in your life that feels unsurmountable, individual therapy could help you improve your everyday life. Individual therapy helps you win against whatever you’re battling by putting a real expert in your corner by means of a professional therapist.

Individual Therapy for Anxiety Disorders

Everyone has worries and stress from time to time. But for people with anxiety disorders, these worries and fears are not temporary and can get worse over time.  Anxiety disorders can severely impact a person’s functioning at work, at school and in relationships. Fortunately, individual psychotherapy (and medication in some instances) is an effective treatment for anxiety disorders.

Insomnia Treatment

Insomnia happens when a person experiences either difficulty with falling asleep or staying asleep. It is a subjective disorder, meaning that people feel like they are not getting enough sleep and they are excessively worried about their sleep. People with insomnia usually experience the effect of poor sleep during the day:

  • feeling tired
  • having low energy
  • trouble with attention, concentration, and memory
